A perfect YA thriller set in space! Couldn’t stop reading!
I absolutely devoured this book. The pacing is wonderful, I loved the characters, and it has a killer twist that you won't see coming. I'd highly, highly recommend it!
A gorgeously written, tautly plotted thriller. I inhaled this book and relished the twists and turns it took. I love the way This Splintered Silence weaves science, technology, grief, panic, and the nuance of human relationship into a tightly woven web--and an ending I never saw coming.
I had the pleasure of meeting Kayla Olson at her book signing. I went because she was in convention with another one of my favorite authors. I hadn't read her book before going but I decided I had to try her books out. I am seriously so happy that I did! Not only is Kayla the sweetest but her book was a genuinely enjoyable read! I loved the complexity of her story. From the very beginning I was heartbroken for Lindley and her friends but strengthened by their bond. It was amazing to read about a group of people who rely on each other in the face of huge challenges and come out the other end way stronger. Not only as themselves but as a unit. Definitely go give this wonderful story a read, you wont regret it.
This story takes place in a distant future aboard the space station Lusca. A mutated virus has killed all the older crew members, leaving teens and younger to run the station.

Lindley follows in her mother's footsteps, taking over as Commander of the station, running it with five close friends of hers. The young people are just starting to rise above the catastrophe of losing their parents and older leaders when young people start dying. It doesn't take Lindley long to realize there is a murderer among the survivors and she can't trust anyone.

This story really could have happened anywhere. It's much more of a murder mystery/thriller rather than a science fiction novel. The story is told from Lindley's point of view and the author gives the reader an in-depth character study on her.

There are sci fi tidbits thrown in once in a while but they don't feel too real.

It was an okay book but I wish it had more world building rather than mystery.

I received this book from Harper Teen through Edelweiss in the hopes that I would read it and leave an unbiased review.
I really enjoyed the mystery aspect and how it's set in space. I also enjoyed the science. Could've done without the love triangle (honestly didn't need romance at all!), but I still very much liked the story.
